A Different Kind of Dermatology

What is Lifestyle &
Integrative Dermatology?

Lifestyle dermatology is the practice of improving skin health by improving overall health. It starts with the understanding that your skin is not separate from your body — it is a reflection of it.

While conventional dermatology focuses on treating what appears on the surface, lifestyle dermatology asks why it appeared in the first place. What is your gut doing? How is your immune system behaving? What are you eating, how are you sleeping, what stress are you carrying?

The answers to those questions are where lasting skin health begins.

01
Gut Health & Microbiome
The gut-skin axis is one of the most powerful levers in inflammatory skin disease. We evaluate it in every patient.
02
Nutrition & Anti-Inflammatory Eating
Food is medicine. What you eat shapes your immune response, your microbiome, and ultimately your skin.
03
Stress, Sleep & the Nervous System
The stress response speaks directly to the skin. We address the mind-body connection as a clinical priority.
04
Conventional Dermatology
Board-certified diagnosis, prescriptions, and evidence-based treatment — as part of the whole picture, not the only picture.

When we heal the body from within,
the skin follows."

Skin Harmony MD does not accept Medicare and is unable to see Medicare patients.

Skin Harmony MD is out of network with all insurance carriers. In order to provide you with the time and depth your care deserves, we do not participate with any insurance plans. A superbill will be provided after your appointment that you may submit to your carrier — reimbursement is not guaranteed and will depend on your individual plan and out-of-network benefits. We do not participate with Medicare, which means claims for our services may not be submitted to Medicare or any secondary insurance.

Common Questions

Things people ask
before they book

No — Skin Harmony MD is out of network with all insurance carriers. This allows me to spend the time your condition actually requires rather than the time an insurance visit allows. A superbill is provided after every visit that you may submit to your carrier for possible out-of-network reimbursement, though reimbursement is not guaranteed.

Per-Visit Care is exactly what it sounds like — you book a visit when you need one, with no ongoing commitment. The Foundations Program is a structured 6-month engagement that includes 4 follow-up visits after your initial consultation during the 6-month period, a personalized integrative treatment plan, and condition-specific educational materials between visits. It's designed for patients who are ready to do deeper, longitudinal work on the root causes of their skin condition.

I am a board-certified dermatologist, and prescribing is a core part of every visit when it's clinically appropriate — including topical and oral medications and compounded prescriptions. My approach combines conventional dermatology with integrative and lifestyle medicine; it is not one instead of the other.

I treat chronic inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis, eczema (atopic dermatitis), rosacea, hidradenitis suppurativa, acne, and vitiligo. If you're not sure whether your condition is a fit, feel free to reach out before booking.

Not necessarily. Many patients work with me alongside their existing dermatologist, especially if they're looking for a deeper, root-cause perspective in addition to their current care. We can discuss what makes sense for your specific situation at your visit.

No. Skin Harmony MD is a virtual practice and does not perform skin cancer screenings, biopsies, or any in-person procedures. If a concern arises during a visit that requires an in-person evaluation, I will refer you appropriately.

All visits are conducted virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. I am licensed to see adult patients located in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC at the time of the visit.

Prescriptions, including compounded topicals, are sent electronically to the appropriate pharmacy — which may include compounding pharmacies or low-cost specialty pharmacies depending on what's prescribed. Labs are ordered through platforms with transparent, upfront pricing, and fees are paid directly to the lab — this is cash-pay and does not involve insurance. If you'd prefer to have labs done through an in-network laboratory using your insurance benefits, Dr. Chheda can tell you which labs need to be ordered, and a physician contracted with your in-network laboratory — such as your primary care physician — can order them on your behalf.

We do not handle prior authorizations directly, but may utilize third parties to help complete prior authorizations if necessary on a case-by-case basis. We make every effort to get you your prescriptions affordably and hassle-free — we often send prescriptions to compounding pharmacies to avoid insurance hurdles, and may also have you use programs like GoodRx.com.

If necessary, on a case-by-case basis.

At this time, we do not prescribe Accutane.

We understand things come up. Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice. A $100 late cancellation or no-show fee applies if a visit is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice or missed entirely. A valid credit card is kept on file for all patients.

After your 6-month program is complete, you can continue care on a per-visit basis. Many patients choose to do this to maintain the progress they've made, while others feel ready to manage independently with the tools and education they've gained.

The Founding Member rate of $200/month is available to the first 10 patients enrolled in the Foundations Program and applies for the duration of that 6-month program. It does not apply to program renewals or future enrollments once those spots are filled.

Lifestyle & Integrative
Dermatologist

I'm a board-certified dermatologist with more than a decade of clinical experience. After completing my residency at the University of Chicago, where I served as chief resident, I went on to practice in both academic and private settings — including teaching residents and medical students at Georgetown/MedStar.

After years of practicing conventional dermatology, I wanted to understand the deeper drivers of skin disease and go beyond what my training had taught me. I believed people with chronic skin conditions deserved more time, more depth, and more answers — so I pursued advanced training in integrative and lifestyle dermatology, completed an Integrative Dermatology Certificate Program, and founded Skin Harmony MD.

My approach draws on conventional dermatology alongside the gut-skin axis, nutrition, mind-body science, and complementary healing traditions like Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Because real healing happens when we treat the whole person, not just the symptom.
